Asia Rugby Women's Championship 2020 rescheduled

Asia Rugby, in coordination with its participating unions, has taken the decision to reschedule the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship 2020, a tournament that acts as a qualifier for Rugby World Cup 2021.

Following World Rugby, the Hong Kong Rugby Union and Sport Singapore’s recent decision to reschedule this year’s Hong Kong and Singapore Sevens tournaments in response to continued health concerns relating to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Asia Rugby, in coordination with its participating unions, has taken the decision to reschedule the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship 2020.

The Championship was due to take place in Hong Kong in March and will now be rescheduled to take place in May across provisional dates 8, 12 and 16 May.

The Asia Rugby Women’s Championship 2020 was also acting as the Rugby World Cup 2021 qualifier with the winner qualifying directly to RWC 2021.

Asia Rugby is coordinating with all of its member unions a revised overall competitions schedule for the year to keep international rugby going in the region where possible during this unfortunate time, with the welfare and safety of all participants a priority.
