- And from a wide range of roles across the sport
World Rugby’s Women in Rugby Careers Programme is designed for women working or volunteering in rugby to support their career progression within the game, advancing World Rugby’s ambition to create equal opportunities for women and girls, both on and off the field.
Building on the momentum of a record-breaking Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025 and the success of the inaugural edition, the programme continues to attract exceptional interest from across the rugby community. This year saw more than 1300 applications from 114 countries, underlining the growing appetite for career development opportunities within the women’s game.
The selected cohort represents 91 countries, reflecting a strong and diverse global spread. Participants come from a wide range of roles across the sport, including coaching, officiating, team management, governance, performance analysis, medical and player welfare, as well as operational and commercial functions. Many are already working within unions, clubs and leagues, while others bring experience as former international or elite domestic players.
The programme will feature seven interactive webinars delivered across the year, offering the 250 participants access to expert insights, practical learning and a global network of peers.
As part of the 2025 careers programme, World Rugby also developed the Impact Beyond: Careers publication showcasing inspirational women working around the world across all areas of rugby. The publication provides practical advice for women and girls on how to develop a career in the sport, as well as highlighting wider resources to support with professional development. More information on the publication can be found here.
