Canada's Olivia Apps has been named Mitsubishi Electric Player of the Week after a stellar performance in her side's 64-26 win over Scotland in the opening round of the 2026 WXV Global Series.
The scrum-half played a pivotal role for Canada, bagging a try in each half and bridging together several key plays that pushed the visitors to capitalise on every opportunity at Edinburgh's Hive Stadium.
Apps' second try was one of the moments of the opening weekend's matches, with the veteran scrum-half sprinting from the back of a scrum 50-metres out, side-stepping several Scottish defenders to the try area and, in the end, needing only a triumphant dive to extend Canada's already big lead.
As well as her brace of tries, Apps clocked up two try assists, two line breaks, beat seven defenders, as well as successfully completing nine tackles and earning her side a turnover in a pitch-perfect display.
The 27-year-old earned her 26th cap for Canada, having helped her country finish second at Women's Rugby World Cup 2025, in a career that has also included a silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Canada travels next to England, where they will face the Women's Rugby World Cup holders, where Apps expected to be a leading figure in what should be one of the must-watch fixtures of WXV Global Series 2026.
